AIS Student Chapter Leadership Conference
The AIS Student Chapter Leadership Conference (SCLC) is an incredible opportunity for Information Systems (IS) students to connect with peers and industry professionals from around the world, gain fresh perspectives, expand their professional skill sets, and build lasting friendships. The conference features keynote speakers from leading industry executives, professional development sessions, and exclusive networking events that bring students together with some of the nation’s top IS leaders and organizations.
A highlight of the SCLC experience is its annual competition tracks, where student teams put their knowledge and problem-solving skills to the test in real-world scenarios. Each year, these competitions span a range of IS disciplines, including FinTech, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Business Analytics, offering participants the chance to learn, innovate, and compete for cash prizes while developing valuable industry experience.
AIS Student Leadership Conference 2025
In March of 2025, JMU AIS members traveled to the University of Alabama. Participating in three competitions and taking second place in the Post-Quantum Computing Security Challenge.
AIS Student Leadership Conference 2024
In March of 2024, JMU AIS members traveled to Utah, to visit Utah State University. Participating and taking first place in the AI and Large Language Models in Company Security Policy competition.
AIS Student Leadership Conference 2023
In March of 2023, JMU AIS members traveled to Miami, Florida to visit Florida International University. At FIU the members competed in a cyber security competition during the annual Student Leadership Conference.
AIS Virtual Student Leadership Competition 2022
In April of 2022, JMU AIS members attended the virtual AIS Student Leadership Conference and competed in the Microsoft Analytics Challenge, winning 2nd place overall!
AIS Virtual Student Leadership Competition 2021
JMU AIS members competed in the HP Design Thinking Challenge winning 2nd place at the virtual 2021 Student Chapter Leadership Conference!
AIS Student Leadership Competition 2019
In April of 2019, JMU AIS members will be traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to visit Temple University and to attend the AIS Student Chapter Leadership Conference.
AIS National Conference 2018 - University of Texas
This past April the AIS executive board along with Professor Carey Cole, went to Dallas, TX to visit the University of Texas. They started the conference off with an opening dinner and line dancing at South Fork Ranch. The next day of the conference they listened to the key note speaker Russ Finney, visited Essilor Lense’s factory, Statefarm’s IS department and Toyota, with several leadership workshops afterwards. In their free time they explored Dallas, including visiting John F. Kennedy’s memorial and Dallas’ Art District.
AIS National Conference 2017 - Brigham Young University
In April of 2017, AIS members and Professor Carey Cole, went to Provo, UT to visit Brigham Young University to attend the 2017 AIS Student Chapter Leadership Conference.
